Picketpost Mountain Medium Hike - Out and Back Hike

This is a scenic hike that passes around the base of Picketpost Mountain with interesting canyon walls and rock formations. The trail is fairly easy with very little elevation gain but the distance makes it somewhat more moderate. The trail is also shared by horseback riders so you know what that can mean - lots of step-arounds. There is ample parking and pit toilets.

All hikers meet in the parking lot in front of the main entrance to the ballroom at about 7:30  a.m. to sign up on both the hike sign-up sheet and the carpool sign-up sheet. New members need to pay their membership fee ($10.00 for the season), sign their waiver, have vaccination cards validated for carpooling, receive their stickers and then sign up for both the hike and vehicle carpool. (Note; Hikers are encouraged to socialize, enjoy the fresh air and get some exercise. Our hikes are designed to be an outing, not a race!)  Riders need to remember to reimburse the driver $10.00 and drivers need to make sure that all the same hikers they take return with them. We leave at 8:00 a.m. sharp and return somewhere between 2 and 4 p.m. If for some reason a hike must be canceled, you will receive an email by Friday morning and you can go back to bed!
