After an invitation to hike Casa Grande Mountain from Denis and John, a few hikers joined in.
To the Tower - led by Denis and John
This hike starts in the Hanna Road Parking Lot. To get to the trailhead we left Palm Creek on McMurray Road, we turned left on Trekkel Road, then left onto Hanna. Follow Hanna to the end to the road to the parking lot.
The trail starts on rough gravel to the gate where it turns into a concrete road used by trucks to access the communication towers. On the way up there is a memorial for a hiker to died on the trail. This trail was named Bolt trail after him.
John, Eileen and Nancy carried on to the Flag
This trail is a nature trail showing large vistas of Casa Grande and Arizona City. Parts of this trail are steep and difficult to navigate, but it is worth getting to the flag and observing the landscape.
